Introduction

Growing Association of 19 years from seven to 18 members, Rajmeru emerged as a registered Civil Society Organization (CSO). The name of Rajmeru is the combination of two Hindi words – Raj (Sand) and Meru (Mountain), which reflects its wider spread of work in different geographies and eco-systems. Rajmeru is dedicated to empower poor and marginalized people of the society, where they could own development efforts with their active participation in planning and decision making at various levels. RAJMERU is operational in different locations of North and the Central Region of the country; where this has successfully expanded its network with CBOs and their collectives who are working in different regions of the country on varied issues and concerns of poor and marginalized communities. Rajmeru has the mandate to work on the complex issues of deprivation, livelihood, food security and local Self-Governance. Rajmeru has its registered office in Jaipur, Rajasthan but operational in three other states also like Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Rajmeru, in its long journey of development initiatives expanded its work with different networks and peoples institutions in Rajasthan and other parts of the country. The experience of Rajmeru was helpful in strengthening institutional processes of CBOs and their collectives in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Rajmeru has actively participated in dialogues with different stakeholders in these states for working with ‘Action in Collaboration’ approach.

Rajmeru visualizes a society where justice, equity and socioeconomic righteousness prevail with dignity and self-respect of each individual.

Mission

Establishing an organic linkage with various civil society actors to emerge as a force towards fighting for injustice, non-equity
and deprivation of rights and promote people’s organization to promote them for collective action into transformation and to develop a proactive structure of governance.

Promoting Action in Collaboration with CSOs, networks, Government, and other stakeholders for facilitating Sustainable Development processes through strengthening local leadership and their institutions.
